This past weekend, the Dallas Arboretum hosted its second annual Black Heritage Celebration.

It was a two-day event lasting from Saturday to Sunday, an extension from the previous year, which was only one day. Black Heritage committee organized the event.

Vendors selling food, candles, skincare, clothes and other products were spread out across the entry plaza.

An artist exhibit featuring Black-owned galleries and artists was set up in DeGolyer House. Artist and former African American Museum Curator Jennifer Monet Cowley displayed the self-portrait she painted for her 50th birthday in one room with other abstract pieces in the house’s gallery room.

Rosine Hall, A Tasteful Place and other spots across garden grounds also had performances and exhibits.

On Sunday afternoon, WFAA’s Tashara Parker interviewed Mahisha Dellinger, CEO and founder of Curls hair product line, and moderated a panel on The Crown Act shortly after. The featured panelists were Texas Representative Rhetta Bower, DeAndre Arnold and Chelle Luper Wilson, a historian and journalist.
