A couple weeks ago a cop chase ended in a hit-and-run at Homer and Monticello in the M Streets. The crash left a teenage boy is dead, and his mother is in critical condition at Baylor Hospital after a suspect slammed into their vehicle and then fled on foot.

Days later, U.S. Marshals arrested Dagoberto Castanon and Rogelio Avila who face murder charges.

The victim was identified as 13-year-old Ethan Vasquez. His 40-year-old mother Sandy Vasquez was still in critical condition last we heard.

Penne Pomodoro in Lakewood Shopping Center announced recently it is raising money to help the family. Christian Vasquez, the son of Sandy and brother of Ethan, is an employee at Penne Pomodoro.

“We would like to be able to help the family through this immensely difficult time,” the web page states. “We will be taking donations that will go directly to the family to help with medical bills, funeral costs, and any other needs. Please stand with us to show the family that they are in a community that cares.”
