The performer’s stories all center around a specific theme that varies from month to month. Tonight’s topic is “Miss the Boat.” Organizers say that highlights include “a Carnival cruise vacation being interrupted by a stepfather in a straitjacket and a 22 year-old dude’s concern of marrying too young is compounded by disastrously immature decision-making on his honeymoon.”

In January Stewart, who is also a Lakewood resident, shared with us how a desire for a sense of community and understanding inspired the concept for her show.

“I want the show to be representative of the voice of Dallas, of what’s going on in the people of Dallas.”

“Oral Fixation: Miss the Boat” starts at 7:30 pm tonight at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary located at 3120 McKinney Avenue. Buy tickets here.
