After speaking with an employee at Mai’s I was told that another restaurant is applying for the rezoning to be able to sell alcohol. A secretary for the Dallas’ zoning ordinance committee also said that the application is for a separate location that is currently zoned as a community retail district. The application is for a Specific Use Permit for “an alcoholic establishment for a bar, lounge or tavern on the west corner of Bryan Street and Prairie Avenue.”

The City Planning Commission will review the application at a public hearing on Thursday and then the City Council will need to approve it after that. More details on the “bar, lounge, or tavern” to come once the application is approved and we hear back from the zoning ordinance committee.
