While responding to a shooting call on May 1, local Dallas firefighter and paramedic William An was shot with an assault rifle while trying to aid another shooting victim. He’s responded to medical rescues for 10 years, most recently on our neighborhood. What looked like a grim situation for An ended well, and he is recovering ahead of schedule from his injuries, according to Dallas Fire and Rescue.

As news spread of his heroism, An and his family received support from all over the country. While he still has a long road ahead of him to make a full recovery, An is grateful for the monetary and emotional encouragement he has has received. Below, An shares his thanks to everyone who has supported him over the past few months, via the City of Dallas.
