The infamous fountain located across Lakewood theater was stripped to its bones on Monday.
Bulldozers and construction workers were seen at the site sometime around Monday morning.
At the moment there is no clear reason as to why the fountain was taken away.
Many local residents have come together on Facebook to share their thoughts on the loss of the fountain.
Almost all of the Lakewood residents expressed they were sad to see the remains of fountain, for them it was a part of Lakewood history.
Although the fountain had not been properly running for some time, residents still wished it wasn’t gone.
Rather than ripping it down to gravel, it would have been nice to see it turn into something creative, residents said on Facebook.
We are still waiting for more updates to what will be in replacement of the fountain, and why the decision was made to tear it down.
At the moment city officials have not yet responded but we will update when comments are made.
