A membership based veterinary clinic, Modern Animal, will officially open Monday for its first Texas location in Lakewood, the first location to make an appearance outside of California.
Pet owners can choose to pay $80 for exams as they go, or purchase Modern Animal’s All-Access membership for $199 a year. The membership includes free exams and on-demand video consultations. Regardless, all pet owners receive access to 24/7 virtual care.
The clinic offers full service, general practice veterinary care. This includes:
- Preventive care
- Surgery & Dentistry
- Diagnostics
- Virtual care
- Puppies & Kittens
Whether pets get sick, or swallow something they shouldn’t have in the middle of the night, Modern Animal provides 24/7 virtual care. Owners will have the ability to answer any of their pet questions or concerns with a professional directly through their app.
In addition, immediate care will be an option for owners whose pets need urgent care. To ensure pets will receive service, Modern Animal has set aside “urgent care” time blocks in case of emergencies.
The app also lets owners book appointments, chat with vets about ongoing care needs, see their pet’s records, and much more.
Inside of the clinic is intended to be a warm and inviting environment so pet parents and their fur family feel welcome.

For most pets, going to the vet can cause lots of anxiety. Because of this, there are no phones at the reception area. This way there are no phones constantly ringing which could overstimulate animals. Owners are also welcome to join in for exams and procedures to support the furry pals.
According to previous Advocate reporting, Modern Animal will be located between Original ChopShop and Betty at Hillside Village.
Two additional locations in the Dallas area are expected to open late this year and mid next year.
Modern Animal Hours of operation will be from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Saturday. The address is located at 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane, Suite 310 Dallas, TX 75214.
