Passing by Lakewood Country Club, one can’t help but notice the flood of orange cones, construction workers and a few bulldozers at work. According to club members, the facility is undergoing exterior renovations and is nearing completion at 6430 Gaston Ave.

Much of the work involved included replacing the brick wall and sign outside of the club, and laying down new asphalt and pavers in the parking lot, according to members. The facility began building a welcome/security enclosure from the garage up to the front door.

The work on the brick wall along Abrams is primarily being carried out by the Oncor crew, preparing to put overhead electrical lines in the ground, visible both inside and outside the club.

Most of the construction seems to be making progress since workers appeared around last summer.

To maintain the flow of ongoing traffic, one lane on Abrams Road has been closed as the project continues.

The Lakewood Country Club has not responded to a request for comment at this time.
