Last week, representatives in support of the Lakewood expansion met with group members from the notocd2, along with three City Plan Commissioners and city staff to reach compromises suitable for both those opposed and for the expansion.

Their goal was to find a solution that would be agreeable to a majority of neighbors

Notcd2 group offered the idea of the expansion group starting over, leaving out several blocks and streets, with only some blocks of Lakewood and Lakeshore remaining.

Advocates for the expansion say they recognize certain blocks have minimal support, thus, proposing a revised map to CPC and city staff.

Based on feedback received, this removes most of Tokalon and Hideaway and changes the 7000 block of Westlake and 6800 block of Lakeshore to Development standards only. Meaning architectural standards would not be applied to those 2 blocks, based on the reduced number of homes on those blocks which are one of the 5 “contributing” styles.

Only the City Council can change the map boundaries to remove blocks, but CPC can direct City staff to change certain areas to Developmental-only once the ordinance is presented to CPC in May.

There are three days left to respond to the city’s survey on the draft ordinance. The forum will close Friday, at 5 p.m.
