Based on previous basketball records, the previous point record was held by Mitchell Crow at 832 points, making Perry the first 1,000 point scorer.

“Once I passed him, I couldn’t believe I was now leading Lakehill scoring history,” Perry said in a statement.

Perry is a quick and confident player on the court, Bradley Neyland, head basketball coach at Lakehill Preparatory School said. He is always thinking one step ahead of the defenders and creating opportunities for himself and his teammates, “better than anyone I have coached,” he added.

Perry is dedicated to the game. The athlete spends countless hours in the gym with his personal trainer, club coach and his varsity basketball coach.

“When your best player is also your hardest worker it goes a long way in building team chemistry and culture. He comes into the gym at 6 a.m. to get shots up, encourages his teammates to do the same and is always looking to do more,” Neyland said. “After every practice and game, he asks me what he needs to work on and what the team needs to do to be better.”

In addition to Perry’s athletic accomplishments this year, Perry was freshman of the year in their district in 2021 and was the offensive MVP his sophomore year. Though he may appear to be the star athlete, Perry remains humble and a team player, Neyland said.

Lakehill Preparatory School celebrates Perry’s historic achievement and looks forward to witnessing what he will contribute to the basketball program during his last years at the school.
