As many as 11 emergency vehicles have responded to a house fire on Lakeshore Drive, according to the Dallas Fire-Rescue active incidents site. Advocate staffer Patti Miller, who lives near the scene, learned that the fire started in a house that the homeowner is remodeling at 6608 Lakeshore. She just watched as firefighters removed the smoldering roof from the home. Recessed lighting caught the insulation on fire, and firemen are hacking through the tile roof to find the source, she says. "It’s so smokey … so sad."

As far as we know, no one was injured. Both the dog and homeowner, John Cox, are safe, Patti says.
