Matt Pulle of the Observer has done a terrific job of outlining who is who and where each of the mayoral candidates are on the weekly’s blog. I don’t know that I agree with some of his conclusions, especially about Don Hill, but he has done a whole lot more work on this than I have (and he deserves a reporting Medal of Honor for attending all those campaign forums). His modesty is especially refreshing, given some of the people who write about politics in this town.

I’m still not convinced Hill will get more than seven or eight votes north of the Trinity, for whatever reason — race, lack of name recognition, the FBI non-investigation investigation. If that’s true, the race will be decided by turnout. If there is a larger turnout south of the Trinity than north, Hill stands a better chance of getting in the almost certain runoff. If not, then he won’t, no matter how good he sounds on the campaign trail.
