Someone asked earlier this week what was going on with Emerald Isle. Despite the fact that I should know better, I wrote that we’re getting five stories and everyone was more or less happy.

That wasn’t very bright of me. In fact, the project is just as unsettled as it has has ever been. The City Plan Commission voted 13-1 to turn down the five-story proposal, and now the developers are appealing that decision to the full city council. The dispute, apparently, is over the developer’s decision to submit a conceptual plan for the project as opposed to an actual development plan.

Brad Rogers, who is following Emerald Isle for the Casa Linda homeowners group, says the appeal might be heard at the June 13 council meeting. And then again, it might not. Depending on how busy the council is, it might not vote on the project until it returns in August from its summer recess.
