A former priest who served at St. Thomas Aquinas in Lakewood was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and arrested Wednesday night in Missouri, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The arrest came after Dallas police issued a warrant Tuesday for the arrest of Richard Thomas Brown, ABC affiliate WFAA reported. Brown is accused of molesting children in the 1980s. He was on the “credibly accused” list that the Dallas Catholic Diocese released in January 2019.

Brown, who is in his late 70s, was taken into custody in Dittmer, about 30 minutes southwest of St. Louis, according to the Morning News. He was booked into jail about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

He had been staying at the Servants of the Paraclete, a site aimed at rehabilitating priests. The Morning News reported that six convicted sex offenders live at the facility, according to Missouri’s sex-offender registry.

Brown, who was removed from St. Thomas in 2002, served at several other churches, including St. Philip in Dallas, Holy Family of Nazareth in Irving and St. Mark the Evangelist in Plano.
