Built in 1971, the station served Dallas’ District 2 area until 2016, when storms damaged the station beyond repair.

The all-new facility is just over 8,000 square feet and will include an engine, rescue unit (ambulance), state-of-the-art bunker gear decontamination room and transition zone for firefighters. The station will also have a fitness room, storm shelter and drive-thru style bay.

Each entry to the station’s living quarters will have an air lock, a new feature that serves to decrease firefighters’ exposure to carcinogens. This technology is being incorporated into newer Dallas Fire Rescue units and has been installed in stations 46, 59, 36 and 58.

The station is set to open 10 a.m. June 8. Community members are encouraged to join the ceremony, which will be led by Fire Chief Dominique Artis. At the end of the ceremony, the station will be open for tours.

Fire Station No. 19 is located at 5600 E. Grand Ave.
