Three years ago the saga of the missing clock began when the Lincoln Property Company removed the iconic timepiece from atop Dixie House in the Lakewood Shopping Center.

In 2013, while the building was being resurfaced, the clock was removed. At the time, it was believed to have been sold to a sign collector. On Aug. 21, passionate neighbors completely dominated Lincoln’s Facebook page, complaining about the clock’s removal. The next day Lincoln announced that it had not been sold, but was being repaired.

It didn’t end there though. No schedule was given for the return, and a year later it was still missing. On Oct. 22, 2014 Robert Dozier of Lincoln was asked about it at a Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce meeting. He said that, “the clock will go back up.”

It was eventually restored in 2015 and is still ticking away. Today the building is boarded up as Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen renovate the space for their fall opening.
