Did the mere reminder of this forgotten neighborhood play park bring a smile to your lips? Then you probably grew up in East Dallas in the 1980s, or at least lived here to experience Gertrude, the tic-tac-toe playing chicken or twirling in the teacups.

Built in the 1980s, thousands of kids flocked to the small-scale amusement park to play with its many attractions. Parents loved having a place for the kids to go crazy while they kicked back and watched the spectacle.

Now home to Lindsey Tree Service and Pro-Touch Soccer Center, the Northwest Highway property still had the Penny Whistle Park sign when we took a walk down memory lane in 2013 to recall the iconic fun center. Read the whole story here.
