The Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas recently recognized its prestigious Gold Award winners – the girls who completed the highest accomplishment in Girl Scouts having completed all the requirements through the end, just as Boy Scouts become Eagle Scouts.

Allison DeJulius raised awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Darfur by making a documentary from a compilation of interviews and footage filmed at the Gathering of Tents rally in Washington D.C. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 2267, a 2010 graduate of TAG Magnet and the daughter of Debbie Clark.

Madeleine Dittmar helped the North Texas Food Bank. She worked with Dallas ISD schools to collect canned food for those served by the food bank. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 2862, a 2011 graduate of Ursuline Academy and the daughter of Greg and Genevieve Dittmar.

Anna Hartmann collected toiletries for the children of Ronald McDonald house with help from the congregation of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 2862, a 2011 graduate of Bishop Lynch High School and the daughter of Anita and Bob Hartmann.

Colleen Hoofard addressed the issue of homelessness in her community in the Dallas area and helped raise funds through a community bake sale. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 2862, a 2011 graduate of Ursuline Academy and the daughter of Ron and Maureen Hoofard.

Alexis Larmeu coordinated an International Festival to promote and educate her community about diversity in the area. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 1948, a 2011 graduate of TAG Magnet and the daughter of Denise and Gery Larmeu.

Grace Meyer, along with other Girl Scouts, initiated a community bake sale, and bought supplies and basic necessities to set up two rooms at the Family Gateway. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 2862, a 2011 graduate of Ursuline Academy and the daughter of Richard and Susan Meyer.

Audrey Miranda started a working library at Peak Preparatory School and also created a space that could be utilized by students and faculty. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 1941, a senior at Ursuline Academy and the daughter of Christy and Joe Miranda.

Madeline Rodriguez collected medical supplies to make first aid kits for the infirmary at Camp El Tesoro and also worked with younger Girl Scouts to help them earn an Asthma Awareness badge. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 2786, a 2010 graduate of Ursuline Academy and the daughter of Alice and Rolando Rodriguez.

Claudia Schleppenbach gathered toiletries for the children of Ronald McDonald House with help from the congregation of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 2862, a 2011 graduate of Bishop Lynch High School and the daughter of Paula and Tim Schleppenbach.

Sarah Seifrick collected enough donated furniture to furnish an entire apartment for a family of six coming to the United States from Burma. She also stocked the pantry with culturally familiar foods. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 2862, a 2011 graduate of Ursuline Academy and the daughter of Sarah and Jack Seifrick.

Sheridan Taylor coordinated a Girl Power Conference that targeted girls ages 11-17, and she led activities that covered topics including motivation and gender stereotypes. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 1941, a senior at the TAG Magnet and the daughter of Martha Sheridan and James Taylor.
