The exhibition features selected original works created by Advanced Placement® Studio Art, Art History, and Music Theory students from ten Dallas-area high schools participating in the O’Donnell Foundation’s AP Arts Incentive Program, and Behrens is one of those students.

Her piece, “Above All Else,” is on display through April 28. The DMA website says her piece, which is pictured above, “captures the essence of the rural Austrian town of Feldkirch through careful attention to intricate detail, pattern, and texture.”

“My intention for this piece is to create an aura of palpability that makes the viewer feel as if they are immersed in this picturesque, monochromatic environment,” Behrens explained in the short description. “I hope each minute detail stimulates a curiosity within my audience that catalyzes a desire to explore the depths of this scene with regard to the life occurring within it.”

Does her name sound familiar? That’s because Behrens also won the DART student art contest last year.
