  • Apparently we’re getting a new German-style biergarten (which, of course, is a cleverly disguised beer garden) on Henderson called the Black Forest Biergarten, according to a blog on the Observer. It’s right next door to Slip Inn. It doesn’t look like much now, but based on the pictures looks like they’re doing a total overhaul of the venue.
  • Someone added a link to this cool YouTube video that shows a montage of old signs in Dallas to the Lakewood, Dallas Facebook page. Check it out!
  • I know it’s only October, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to get excited about that fact that the date for Light Up Lakewood 2013 has been set, right? It’s been set for Dec. 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • For anyone who didn’t see yesterday’s event round-up: ESPN Radio’s 2013 Fall Football Tour is coming to Dallas, and landing in our hood. The Herd with Colin Cowherd will be broadcasting live from Truck Yard on Friday, Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Doors open at 8 a.m. Check out the Facebook page for more.
  • Heads-up Tolkien lovers: Also on the Lakewood, Dallas Facebook page, someone posted, “Attention hipsters / Lakewood residents: this lecture to be given by a Tolkien scholar and otherwise groovy professor from Middlebury College should be riveting, regardless of your taste for fantasy fiction. Munger Place Church, Sat. Oct. 19., 6-8pm. 5200 Bryan St.”
