East Dallas is prominent in the list of Dallas’s 100 favorite dishes, we noticed.

Selections include the fried port salut cheese at the Porch, the meatball sub at Jimmy’s,  the pad pak and tom-yum-gai at Bangkok City,  the cheese fries at Snuffer’s, spaghetti Bolognese at Urbano Cafe, the Bob Armstrong dip at Matt’s Rancho Martinez, the mashed tater parfait at Cowboy Chow, the oatmeal pancakes at Legal Grounds and many more.

About half of the 31 dishes selected so far are from restaurants in our ‘hood. And they still have a long way to go to name the top 100, but we have our neighborhood picks.

The famed pizza at Louie’s is one. And we recently tried the cheese fries at Elbow Room. They’re different from Snuffer’s, but I think I like them better. Anything outside pub grub and cheap eats, and my dining expertise generally falls apart. But I also like the chicken liver mousse at the Porch, and at Jimmy’s, I’ll have the prosciutto panino.
