Several local schools are advancing to the state round of the Destination Imagination competition.

On Feb. 12, 96 Dallas ISD schools and 164 teams participated in the regional competition at Skyline High School. The competition allows students to present creative solutions to challenges in science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

Overall, 18 DISD teams are advancing to the state competition, which will be held at the University of Texas at Arlington in March.

Below are the neighborhood schools advancing to state:

Truett Elementary

Challenge: Daring Escape

Lakewood Elementary
Team name: Beans and Lice
Challenge: Up Close

Casa View Elementary 
Team name: Beagles
Challenge: Tricky Tales

Reinhardt Elementary
Team name: RAMS
Challenge: Tricky Tales

Woodrow Wilson (with Booker T. Washington HSPVA and Townview SEM)
Team name: TROTIC
Challenge: Festival Frenzy

Mata Montessori
Team name: Mata Montessorians
Challenge: Roll With It
