Celebrating our Neighborhood schools

Robert T. Hill students and faculty mourned the loss last month of their outstanding STEM and Robotics teacher, Eliana Tseng, who has been lauded as putting their STEM Academy on the map. Beyond being an exemplary teacher who led her students to win dozens of trophies in STEM and robotics, Ms. Tseng was seen as a mentor and leader in the STEM field, in which women are often underrepresented.

Hill Principal Candice Ruiz told NBCDFW that she and Ms. Tseng often had conversations about the future of the school’s STEM program.

“At one point, we talked about naming our STEM program, and she said: ‘It’s going to have to be after a woman, there’s so many great women,’” recalled principal Ruiz.

Congratulations to Miles Goltl on his appointment to West Point!

Dallas ISD 8th grader Miles Goltl and STEM instructor Eliana Tseng in 2017, enroute to a West Point STEM event.

Ms. Tseng’s impact shines on in the lives of her former students, including Conrad High School senior Miles Goltl, who recently received an offer to attend West Point Military Academy starting in the fall.

Miles, who traveled with Ms. Tseng to West Point in 2017 when he was her middle school student, says, “I had no idea that our STEM trip to West Point in eighth grade would plant a seed. I’m not sure Ms. Tseng knew, either. I really wish she was here so I could tell her how she helped by introducing me to so many cool things.”

Congratulations, Miles!

Signing Day

I’m so proud of our Bryan Adams athletes who scored big on National Signing Day!

Congratulations to football players Antoine Murphy, who signed with Hastings University; Marqeese Owens, who signed with West Texas A&M University, and Anthony Propes, who signed with University of Saint Mary (Kansas).

National Signing Day was an incredible day for 74 Dallas ISD student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic careers in college. Fourteen Dallas ISD high schools had at least one student-athlete sign to play college football, basketball, softball or participate in track and field.

Congratulations to all of our district’s signees!
