The Bryan Street eatery is located in the same spot as Khao Noodle Shop, which closed in February.

Chef Donny Sirisavath, the founder of Khao, is also behind Darkoo’s, which is calling itself an “Asian fried chicken shack.” Sirisavath collaborated with Jimmy Niwa of Niwa Japanese BBQ in Deep Ellum on this new venture.

Options include fried chicken legs and thighs and panko tenders. The restaurant also has five homemade sauces for dipping, like spicy ketchup, a variation of the jammy jeow bong from Khao, and the “DJ sauce.”

A couple of their sides are fries and spicy cucumber salad.

For dessert, the restaurant is selling Darkoo’s eggs, which are chewy, fried balls of sweet potatoes and purple yams served with a pandan custard.

Darkoo’s Chicken Shack is located at 4812 Bryan St. It’s open 6-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 6-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
