This transformation will happen by early June, according to a statement sent to The Advocate from Hopdoddy.

Austin-based Hopdoddy Burger Bar announced plans in January to acquire Grub, which is based in Bryan. Together, the companies formed HiBar Hospitality Group, which is backed by private equity firm L Catterton and led by Hopdoddy CEO Jeff Chandler. Jimmy Loup, Grub’s founder and CEO, retained a stake in the combined business and took a spot among the company’s board of directors.

At the time, Hopdoddy planned to expand in its core markets with 8-12 units each year. There were 18 Grub restaurants across four states. Together, Hopdoddy and Grub owned 50 restaurants.

Grub opened on the ground floor of Energy Square near Greenville Avenue and University Boulevard in 2013.

Hopdoddy offers all-natural burgers with antibiotic-free meats that are ground in house and served on fresh-baked buns. It has locations in Uptown and Preston Center.
