On Jan. 24, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Dailey was last seen in the 5800 block of Kenwood Ave before wandering from her Lakewood home. Dailey’s neighbor, Lauren Middleton, was asked by Alice’s husband, John Dailey, to call for neighbors’ help locating his wife.

“They [Dailey and her husband] walk often around SMU, Lakewood, HP, etc. She doesn’t know her way home and she is quite a fast walker. He [Dailey’s husband] normally ensures she has her fanny pack on that includes her phone as well as her shoes that have an Air tag sewn in. Unfortunately, she left without both today, and her husband is distraught,” Middleton said on the app Nextdoor.

Residents from White Rock Lake, Lakewood, Lower Greenville, and the Dallas Police Department began searching and asking for assistance locating Dailey. Middleton said a Silver Alert was issued to alert the neighborhood.

After no luck, the search ceased with the intent of continuing the following morning. It wasn’t until Thursday at around 7:15 a.m. when Higgins found Dailey not too far from their church, Greenland Hills United Methodist.

“It was quite an effort to locate Alice,” John Dailey said. “We are more than grateful for such a massive participation. So many showed they care and offered words of encouragement.”

John said his wife is safe and sound after she went missing and is thankful for the community support that has led her to return home.
