Head to the Samuell-Grand amphitheater to see, Shakesepare’s “Titus Andronicus.” This story of a Roman general on his quest for revenge is believed to be the author’s first tragedy, and is often described as one of his most violent. The play opens tonight at 7 p.m., and continues through Sept. 30. General Admission tickets range from $10 to $15.
Tonight, head to Cane Rosso White Rock, and they will donate 10 percent of all food sales between 5:30 and 9 p.m. to Lipscomb Elementary.
Twigg Realty will hold its third annual Clean Up By Canoe at White Rock Lake this Saturday at 9:30 a.m., where neighbors can pick up some of the trash that can’t be easily reached from the shoreline. This family event will provide canoes, life jackets and paddles, and will include gift certificates and prizes.
The Friends of White Rock Lake welcome neighbors to the Corinthian Sailing Club on Saturday at 7 p.m. for an Adopt-A-Prairie open house and a Texas Pollinator BioBlitz orientation. The Friends are looking for more stewards for the nearly 130 acres of native Blackland Prairie that surround White Rock Lake. This open house will give participants information about the biodiversity of the prairie, as well as the adoption process and requirements. There will also be a forum for local wildflower lovers to plan how to bring some color to the grasslands around the lake. Register for the event here.
The Friends of the Aldredge House will be hosting their first Coffee with Hal, presented by architect Wilson Fuqua. This will be an informative seminar about Hal Thompson, the architect of the Aldredge House and several other Swiss Avenue homes. Botolino Gelato will also be served on the veranda of the McDaniel house across the street. The event is from 9:30 a.m to noon at 5500 Swiss Avenue. Tickets for members of Friends of the Aldredge House or Preservation Dallas are $30, non-members are $35.
“Goosebumps the Musical,” based on the best-selling book series by R. L. Stine, opens this weekend at the Dallas Children’s Theater. Running Sept. 22-Oct. 29, the story follows two kids who are starring in a musical when strange things start to happen. Shows are on Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. and tickets are $22-$28.
The Dallas Arboretum will host beer tastings this Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $10, and include four 2-ounce pours of the brews at the Café on the Green.
Take part in the future of Dallas’ arts and culture this Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. The Dallas Children’s Theater will host public conversations, activities and neighbors will have the ability to share thoughts on Dallas’ cultural future.
New York Times bestseller Doug Stanton will be signing copies of his military history book, “The Odyssey of Echo Company: The 1968 Tet Offensive and the Epic Battle to Survive the Vietnam War” at Half-Price Books on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
