The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher was at the fast-food chicken spot on Greenville Avenue near Milton Street. Because of its proximity to SMU, the location is named “The Pony Express.”

Kershaw was there March 3 because Raising Cane’s supports Kershaw’s Challenge, the organization he co-founded with his wife, Ellen. Both Clayton and Ellen are from Dallas and attended Highland Park High School.

Kershaw’s Challenge is a faith-based organization that works to serve vulnerable and at-risk children in Los Angeles, Dallas, Zambia and the Dominican Republic. Here’s part of the mission statement: “We exist to encourage people to use whatever God-given passion or talent they have to make a difference and give back to people in need. We want to empower people to use their spheres of influence to impact communities positively and to expand God’s kingdom. We believe that God can transform at-risk children and neighborhoods through the benevolence and impact of others.”

The organization supports Behind Every Door and Shoes That Fit in Dallas.
