Dale Coonrod was arrested in December 2019 and charged with two counts of assault. Read about the incident, which was recorded in a video that went viral on Twitter, here.

Toby Shook, Coonrod’s attorney, tells the Advocate that during the trial, the defense played a dash cam video from Coonrod’s car. The video was enlarged and showed that Coonrod did not strike or push down Chanise Condren, who said Coonrod assaulted her, Shook says. It also showed that Coonrod did not push down Ashley Gardner, Condren’s wife, who was also at the park that day, Shook says.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s office confirmed that the charges were dropped.
