Trees are available through the Branch Out Dallas program, and the registration is open this month.

Here are the requirements for registration:

  • Be a homeowner in the city of Dallas.
  • Provide your Dallas Water Utilities account number, which begins with “1.” You can find it on your paper bill or on the ePay website. But if you’re looking online, ignore any leading zeroes. (Visit this website to see where online and on the paper bill the account number is.)
  • Know your ZIP code.
  • Provide your email address and phone number.

The City of Dallas is offering a few types of trees for neighbors to pick from: Mexican oak, sycamore, redbud, American elm, cedar elm and Chinquapin oak.

Trees can be picked up Nov. 5 at several locations across Dallas.

The Branch Out Dallas program was started to help reduce the heat island effect and increase the overall tree canopy in our city. Trees improve air quality, provide shade, help filter runoff and stormwater, cool temperatures and more.
