The Santa Fe Trail pedestrian bridge near the Gaston-Garland-Grand is open again, the Texas Department of Transportation says.

It had been closed over the summer while crews could work on the 3G intersection in East Dallas, and it reopened Sept. 2.

Trail users had been using alternate routes to get around the area. Here’s the detour TxDOT ultimately landed on, and here’s the one that was initially proposed.

New access points will eventually be built for pedestrians and cycling traffic to cross through the intersection, according to a press release from TxDOT.

The project at 3G is scheduled to be completed by spring 2023, weather permitting, according to TxDOT.
