We noticed this on the City Plan Commission agenda for Thursday, July 7: “An application for a Specific Use Permit for a late-hours establishment limited to a commercial amusement (inside) for a bowling alley…”

The proposed location is the old Regal Beagle at Greenville and Lewis, next to Good Records.

We’ll know more tomorrow, but the agenda item states some points of concern. Those include: Do we really need another late-night place serving alcohol on Lower Greenville? Such a place would add to already heavy traffic and noise pollution in the area. And it has a rooftop patio, which neighbors hate because of the noise. The item suggests that the operators should be prohibited from using the patio if possible, and if not, they should not be allowed to use it after midnight.

Anyway, a bowling alley would be awesome. Did you know the nearest public bowling alley to our neighborhood is on Composite near Stemmons Freeway? It’s an OK bowling alley, but it’s not a great neighborhood.
