We visited the Wilkinson Center offices this morning and found they’re starting a push for more volunteers.

The center’s mission it so help people out of poverty, and it started at the former Munger Place United Methodist Church in 1982, with a food pantry. The center still offers help with food and clothing, but it has grown to include after-school programs, adult education and career counseling, among other services.

The center recently hired a volunteer coordinator, Chree Carr. Contact her at chree_carr@wilkinsoncenter.org to volunteer. Opportunities include helping with the food pantry, teaching adult education classes or helping with the after-school programs.

“Volunteerism is a way for nonprofits to have a greater impact with the same amount of money,” says Wilkinson Center director of operations Mark Ernst.
