Over the weekend, another home burglary took place at night, while the home was inhabited. Unlike the other cases recently reported, this time the tenant woke up.

Some friends were talking about this case earlier today — apparently the woman in the house was pet sitting. Here’s what the police report says (edited so it makes sense):

At almost 3:30 a.m. on Saturday June 16, a woman sleeping at a home in the 6800 block of Fisher Road awoke to the sound of barking dogs. They were in the upstairs room with her, but they heard something downstairs — dog ears, ya know? She promptly realized someone was entering the home from the garage. She called 9-1-1. She heard footsteps coming up the stairs and approaching the room. She screamed. Dogs barked. Footsteps retreated. Police arrived within moments. An air search and K-9 search ensued.

Many items stolen from the home — which included jewelry, silverware, a pellet gun, and golf clothes — were recovered in the alley behind the home, but the burglar or burglars were not apprehended.
