Dallas police are asking for public assistance in identifying two people shown in newly released footage of the shooting death of former Texas Tech and Carter High School basketball player Andre Emmett.

The 1-minute, 17-second video is compiled from two Nest home surveillance cameras. The first is shot from a distance and shows three men running in the street. In the second video, Emmett is seen sitting in his Range Rover when two people appear at the driver-side window with a gun. He raises his arm in a defensive gesture, gets out of the car and then runs away.

Police said Emmett was shot about 2:30 a.m. Monday while sitting in front of his house in the 1800 block of North Prairie Avenue. Two assailants approached, and one of them pulled a gun. Emmett was shot as he tried to run away.

A passerby found Emmett several hundred feet from his home and called 911. First responders took him to an area hospital, where he later died.

Witnesses told police the assailants fled in a white Chrysler 3000 onto North Fitzhugh toward Ross.
