And, no, I’m not going. But for anyone interested in this sort of thing, it’s a big deal. Opus One, about as high-end a wine as we have in the U.S., will hold the Dallas release of its 2004 wine at a dinner on Oct. 17 at Bijoux at Lovers and Inwood.

Opus One was one of the first of this country’s cult wines when it debuted in 1979. It’s a red blend, based on the great wines of Bordeaux. It’s not quite as chi chi these days as it was a decade ago, but you’ll still drop $150 for a bottle (assuming you can find it to buy it).

What do you get for your $500? Four courses (one of which is foie gras, of course) served with the 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 Opuses. Or is it Opi? There’s a pre-dinner reception at 6:30 p.m with caviar and 1995 Krug champagne, also nice, and dinner is at 7 p.m. For information or reservations, call the restaurant at 214-350-6100.
