Sali’s Pizza has closed up shop. The Garland Road restaurant served Italian staples for over a decade, but when the Advocate visited, there looked to be crews taking down the sign, and the inside was gutted. All that remained inside was a large sandy husky, lazily napping on the tile floor.

It isn’t clear what is next for the space, but the nearby intersection between Garland and Peavy has been full of interesting developments and trendy eateries of late. Garland Road neighbors have been a much more vocal and active force about what happens on the thoroughfare lately, as a new wave of development makes its way to the northeast side of the lake.
