Val’s Cheesecake on Greenville Avenue has permanently closed its doors, as of Tuesday, Dec. 17.
For neighbors who have been following the headlines regarding Val’s Cheesecake, the news may not come as a surprise. Owner Valery Jean-Bart has hinted at the possibility of the Greenville location’s closure since around June of this year, when he spoke to The Dallas Morning News. Jean-Bart’s discussion with the publication revealed that if he wasn’t able to secure a trademark license, he’d close the cheesecake shop.
His social media posts from early December, on both Instagram and Facebook, echo the same sentiments he’s shared with publications.
“Ultimately, had I had a partner to manage Val’s Cheesecakes, I might not have taken a step back, but circumstances have guided me toward a different path,” he wrote in a social media post.
Jean-Bart’s journey with the business isn’t entirely over, as he will continue his work in a new way through Val’s Blue Label — an “elevated cheesecake experience,” including cheesecakes, cheesecake classes, consulting and other experiences and services.
Val’s Blue Label will be operating off of South Akard Street, Thursday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
