Assuming construction stays on schedule, the Alamo Drafthouse replacing the old Tom Thumb at Skillman and Abrams will welcome customers come February.

“What you will see in Lake Highlands is different than any other Alamo. That will be something we surprise you with,” Bryan Penley, president of Alamo Drafthouse DFW, told the Lake Highlands Chamber of Commerce on Thursday. (While Alamo calls it Lake Highlands, Advocate readers continue to debate which neighborhood can claim this new development. But there’s been enough reader interest on each side of the project, so the Advocate will continue to share updates with both audiences).

Penley added that the community will have a role in shaping what it becomes in terms of special screenings or bar events. “A lot of what we do when it comes to events is inspired by our fans.”

Alamo will join Bahama Bucks, Fuzzy’s Tacos, Mrs Gridiron and other yet-to-be-named additions in the newly renamed Creekside Shopping Center.
