As I type, I’m looking out my office window and watching a CAT turn what used to be Mustang Auto at Abrams and Richmond into a tidy little pile of rubble (yesterday, when demo started, it was a chaotic pile of rubble). This must mean Wachovia’s attempts at rezoning that stretch of road are going well. I imagine Cafe Brazil will be next. If I’m remembering correctly, Wachovia has pledged to incorporate the old gas station that was Lakewood Furniture into the bank’s design. Every time I pass by that building, I wonder how the heck they’re gonna do that. I imagine it’s going to be really visually arresting — in an either really good or really bad way.
