The French-inspired cafe maman (lowercase when not at the start of a sentence) plans to open its doors at Hillside Village Shopping Center on Thursday, April 23.
Starting with a ribbon cutting at 8 a.m., complimentary totes and chocolate chip cookies will be given to the first 100 customers with their purchase, according to a press release. Those who come by between 3:30 and 6 p.m. can take part in the on-site charm bar with Charm Haven and will get a croissant charm if they spend $15 or more at maman, while supplies last.
Maman just opened a location in Park Cities and is expected to open another store in Casa Linda.
If you’re not familiar, maman offers a full espresso and tea program plus housemade pastries and made-to-order menu items of the savory variety. As described in the press release, offerings include:
- “Magnolia Sweet Tea Fizz ($6), a cold-steeped magnolia bud tea made with Topo Chico, sweetened with local Texas wildflower honey syrup and served with a lemon wedge and fresh mint
- “Cheesy Brisket Croissant Roll ($7.50), a French-style flaky croissant swirl with Texas smoked brisket, sharp cheddar cheese, wholegrain mustard and herbs
- “Lone Star Cinnamon Bun ($6.50), a sweet, fluffy pastry filled with cinnamon sugar and topped with a creamy vanilla glaze and a signature pastry star
- “Salted Caramel Pecan Pie Roll ($7), a soft, buttery pastry swirled with salted caramel, vanilla and toasted Southern pecans”

A regular butter croissant at maman is $4. Lattes range between $5.25 and $6.50, and drip coffee costs between $3 and $4. Photo courtesy of maman.
“We’re so excited to continue growing in Dallas with our second location in Lakewood,” co-founder Elisa Marshall said in the press release. “The neighborhood has such a strong sense of community, which aligns beautifully with what we aim to create at maman — spaces where people can gather, connect and celebrate everyday moments.”
The space at 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane, #316, (formerly Palmer’s Hot Chicken, Catfish and Shrimp) is 4,620 square feet with a patio and has seating for 116 guests. The design is inspired by “maman’s signature South of France provincial aesthetic,” like blue toile, vintage-inspired furnishings, painted brick, warm wood tones and florals, according to the press release. The cafe will accommodate casual meetings as well as special occasions and has a private space available for booking.
Maman will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Keep in mind that the kitchen will close at 4 p.m. each day.
