Foodie magazine Saveur’s July installment, "The Texas Issue," lists chef Sharon Hage’s York Street as one of the best places to eat in Texas. It states: "In this soigné space that contains just 12 tables, she serves lovingly crafted dishes like buttered celery bisque and lavender-roasted Texas quail." (The dictionary tells us that "soigné" means "sophisticated." I suppose one of those six flags WAS France.)
We’ve mentioned several times here that Hage is due for a James Beard Award. And York Street is the only East Dallas restaurant that gets a mention from Saveur. Chef Teiichi Sakurai of Tei Tei Robata Bar on Henderson gets props for his newest venture, Tei An, a Japanese noodle house downtown. And two cheeses from the Dallas Mozzarella Co. in Deep Ellum are mentioned as part of Texas’s "cheese revolution." Viva la frommage!
