Woodrow Wilson High School has hired a new athletic coordinator and head football coach.

Paul Beattie was selected for the position. This is the first time Beattie has served as head football coach, according to a Dallas ISD press release. His first day will be on March 24.

Beattie has more than 25 years of experience as a history, government and economics teacher and coach. For 14 years, he was assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator at DeSoto High School, where the Eagles won back-to-back UIL 6A Division II state football championships in 2022 and 2023. Beattie also helped guide five state championship teams as an assistant track and field coach at DeSoto. In addition, he has experience coaching defensive backs, and he oversaw off-season football workout programs for high school and junior high athletes. 

Beattie has also worked for schools in Galveston, Pflugerville, Austin and Eagle Pass.

Beattie is an alumnus of Eagle Pass High School where he was on the football and baseball teams. He went on to earn two bachelor’s degrees in political science and social science as well as a master’s degree in business administration.
