Woodrow Wilson High School graduate Grace Choi, who is a sophomore at the University of Michigan where she plays on the women’s golf team, was recently named as one of two recipients of Meijer’s title sponsor exemptions, which will allow her to compete among the field of professionals at the Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft in early August, at Blythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Woodrow graduate and superfan Kyle Rains sent us this information about the tournament, which features the No. 1 female golfer in the world, Stacy Lewis, along with rookie superstar, Lydia Ko, recent U.S. Women’s Open Champion Michelle Wie, and renowned players such as Paula Creamer and Lexi Thompson.
“I’m so thankful for the wonderful opportunity Meijer has given me with their generous exemption into their event,” Choi says. “It has been a dream of mine since I was little to play on the LPGA and compete with the best players in the world. I’m really looking forward to learning from the best and proudly representing the University of Michigan.”
After setting a U-M freshman scoring record with a team-best average of 75.64 strokes per round last season, Choi was asked to represent U-M by head coach Jan Dowling. Choi won the Texas Girls Golf Championship in 2013.
