The annual neighborhood pool party, the Tietze Splash, is this weekend, Saturday, Aug. 9, from  7-8:30 p.m. Bring your noodles and tubes over to Tietze Pool for summertime fun, food and music. Also, through Aug. 17, enjoy summer by the pool at Tietze Park, open 1-8 p.m. Thursday through Monday. Tietze Park is located at 2700 Skillman. Call 214.670.1380 for more information. Through Aug. 31, enjoy floral displays and fun activities at discounted prices at the Dallas Arboretum. Don’t miss $1 general admission for the entire month of August. The beds will be bursting with ageratum, impatiens, petunias, cleome, begonias, salvia, marigolds, lobelia and zinnias. This Saturday, Aug. 9 Pretty Smart Girls, a foundation dedicated to empowering and equipping girls, is hosting its fashion show. Earlier this year, Pretty Smart Girls launched a 50-day campaign in which girls participate in monthly cultural, social and academic activities, while also promoting community advancement and involvement. This weekend, the campaign will culminate with a fashion show that highlights the members of Pretty Smart Girls. The event will be at Sundown at Granada, located at 3520 Greenville. Tickets are $25+ 

On Monday, Aug. 11, Greenville Avenue Pizza Company (1923 Greenville Avenue) will host their 2nd annual “Slices for Supplies” event from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Customers that bring at least one school supply item will receive one free slice of cheese pizza with one additional topping.

Through Aug. 17, The Creative Arts Center of Dallas is hosting its second exhibit featuring self-taught artists from The Bridge, Dallas’ largest homeless service center. “From the Street” features the work of 15 artists and includes drawings, paintings and jewelry, all of which will be for sale with all proceeds going to the artists. Through Sept. 27, The White Rock Lake Museum in the Bath House Cultural Center presents Refreshing Journey, an exhibition of drawings inspired by White Rock Lake from Dallas artist Jenny Hong DeLaughter.
