Brian Bessner had big plans for the sixth iteration of Woodrow Fest, the annual event that raises scholarship money for Woodrow Wilson High School seniors.
In February, he began planning for a festival at Randall Park with food trucks and live music.
Then the coronavirus hit, and expanding the event was put on hold.
Instead, Bessner and Clay Drury, both Woodrow grads, reimagined Woodrow Fest as a golf tournament that was played Thursday at Tenison Park Golf Course.
Forty people participated in the scramble and raised just more than $12,000.
Woodrow Fest has raised almost $55,000 since it started as an event on behalf of the Exchange Club of East Dallas at the Pour House on Skillman and Oram streets.
Next year, Bessner said he hopes to organize a hybrid event with a golf tournament in the morning and an outdoor festival in the afternoon.
