“We can confirm that Snooze has decided to leave Casa Linda Plaza,” said Sara Beckstead, a spokeswoman for Edens, the real estate developer that owns the property. “We can also confirm that we are in active discussions with other retailers to fill their space. We will look forward to sharing this news with you when it is appropriate to announce.”

The brunch chain announced in September 2019 that it would open in the Casa Linda Plaza in summer 2020.

Construction on the building across from Starbucks began shortly after and drew criticism from some neighbors who said the building was too close to the street and hides the surrounding architecture.

The project was completed, but the building sat empty for months, prompting some neighbors to question if Snooze was still planning on opening the location. In September 2020, Snooze spokeswoman Nicole Sabilia said she did not know the opening date, but “We’re looking forward to making you breakfast in the future.”

It is not clear why the eatery decided to leave, and Snooze has not yet returned a request for more information.
