Here’s the original post from Jan. 19:

Police have not named the woman who was killed after she attempted to flee from two officers in a stolen vehicle out of the Five Trees Apartments at 4700 Eastside Ave.

Police were called at 4:56 a.m. Wednesday when someone reported that two suspicious people were sitting in a vehicle in the apartment complex’s parking lot, according to reports. Police ran the plates and determined the vehicle was reported stolen in Irving. After locating the vehicle in the back parking lot, they approached cautiously, shouting verbal orders at the man and woman seated inside.

“The occupants in the vehicle ignored those commands,” said Deputy Chief Thomas Castro during a press conference.

Instead, the woman put the car in reverse and backed into the police cruiser before attempting to drive through a lattice-work fence. When the fence didn’t give, she threw the car into reverse again at which point both officers opened fire on the car. The driver was hit and transported to Baylor Medical Center, where she died. The occupant was not harmed, but is facing felony criminal charges.

Luckily, no officers were injured in the exchange.
