A woman was found over the weekend lying in the street in Far East Dallas with “deep cuts” to her neck and chest, the Dallas Police Department says.
Police responded to a call around 5:40 a.m. July 31 at Hunnicut Road and St. Francis Avenue, near Lakeland Hills Park, and found the woman. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded, and the woman, who’s identity is currently unknown, died at the scene.
During their investigation, police detectives found a crime scene in the 9000 block of E. R.L. Thornton Freeway, and they identified a suspect, 22-year-old Andre Woods Jr.
Detectives found Woods, and a marked patrol unit was sent to pull over his car. But before they could, Woods crashed his vehicle on 1st Avenue. He was arrested and taken to a hospital.
Woods was charged with murder.
This investigation is ongoing.
