What began as Sandy’s Spot, a pop-up boutique inside the corner of Maker’s Connect, a local art shop and gallery that closed in February, has transformed into Sandy’s Closet, a vintage-inspired store offering shoes, accessories, hand-made items and classic clothing.

Sandy’s Closet, named after owner Sandy Pomeroy, is located at 9047 Garland Rd in the White Rock Shopping Center.

The store had its soft opening with family and friends on Sunday, May 5, two days before their grand opening on Wednesday, May 8.

Sandy’s Closet’s grand opening was a busy first day, with more customers than expected, Pomeroy confirms.

Pomeroy, who has an eye for style and a “passion for fashion,” has experience working for Women’s Wear Daily, nonprofit organizations and retail. After years of work, Pomeroy says she was ready to become her own boss as a small business owner.

Since the beginning, she’s always had a clear vision for Sandy’s Closet, “I want people to be able to buy something if they want to buy something because sometimes you need retail therapy. I want to have things priced from $2 to $2,000,” she said.

At Sandy’s Closet, you’ll find “pretty much anything” from vintage travel styles, nautical pieces, $1 accessories,  $12 hand-made items and $2500 vintage Chanel purses.

“I’m a big shopper, I’ve always been a big shopper. I don’t price anything more than what I would have paid for it,” she said.

In addition to its store offerings, Sandy’s Closet aims to provide a “welcoming atmosphere,” through its mini lounge area with books to read and free wifi to use, she said, a place “where you could feel comfortable walking in and hanging out.”

People who aren’t interested in shopping have the opportunity to stop by and donate items to the store, as long as the items are of good quality and reflect the style found at Sandy’s Closet. If she can’t resell the donations, Pomeroy says she gives items to White Rock Center of Hope, a nonprofit off Peavy and Garland Road.

Pomeroy, a longtime East Dallas resident, shares her excitement for the location and the opportunity to meet more neighborhood shoppers.
